Ordinarily, the GRE home edition was first introduced in May of 2020. It was supposed to end in October same year. The user experience seems positive and they extended it to December of 2020. ETS has now adopted the home edition of the GRE as a standard test, which ultimately did not replace the center testing. It only gives the test taker option to write the GRE exam in the comfort of their homes.
Difference Between the GRE Home Edition and Testing Center
According to the information on the GRE website, test takers have the same experience and, there is no difference in test taker experience, both exams have the same value and, the same content plus the same assessment by the institution.
